the woman who dances

the woman who dances
dances by the old ones
carved by wind, time and seasons
she faces north while she sings
her skirt flashes in the sunlight
her arms raised to the sky
catching a falling star
one only she can see
the woman who dances
has danced since she first arrived
star born
she lifts her eyes to the sky
has the night advances
she searches
seeking that place that birthed her
the woman who dances
has left her mark where the rivers meet
her song is forever
other voices have joined her praise
trying to catch her vision
the woman who dances
dances forever
her dance etched on a stone placed next to where the rivers join
her dance will last forever
her song will echo for generations
the woman who dances
dances by the old ones
i stop to watch
mesmerized by her movements
and the song that was born in the stars
lies on the place where the rivers meet
listen
above the voices of a hundred languages
you can hear
the woman who dances
her song has been here forever
and the hundred languages join her
their voices mingle with the old ones
in time they will join the woman who dances
and their history will be etched in stone
next to the woman who dances
dances by the old ones
