Prairie Fire Press: Lecture and Q & A with Alice Major, March 20

Canadian writer Alice Major has published eleven volumes of poetry, two novels for young adults, and a collection of essays about poetry and science. Her work has won prestigious awards in all three genres. Her latest book, Welcome to the Anthropocene, explores the role of humans in the natural world in new poems that sparkle with intelligence and wit.

In 2018, Alice Major was the latest poet to deliver the Anne Szumigalski Memorial Lecture to the annual conference of the League of Canadian Poets. Her lecture, titled "Scansion and Science" was later published in Prairie Fire magazine 39.4. At the invitation of Canadian Mennonite University's Department of English, Ms Major will re-deliver this lecture in the Marpeck Commons, 2299 Grant Avenue, on Wednesday, March 20 at 12:00 PM. Ms Major will be introduced by Winnipeg poet Sally Ito. A Q & A session will follow Ms Major's presentation. This event is free and open to the public. A poster is attached.

All three of Ms Major's events in Winnipeg are made possible by the support of the Canada Council for the Arts and the League of Canadian Poets.
