Mime, Clowning and Storytelling
Enjoy an evening of structured comedic play and physical clowning exploration. Discover characters rooted in experience made unique through exaggeration and role reversal. Play with paradox and uncover new perspectives. Explore non-verbal communication. These workshops offer valuable techniques for cultivating creative thinking, problem-solving and are focused on clowning as an inroad to explore the expression of your own creativity. Discover or rediscover the creative joy in your work. Develop a storytelling persona, challenge your limitations and learn to use humour. This class is for actors, storytellers, writers, students, artists and service providers.
Sessions are Monday evenings for 5 weeks beginning November 18, 7:30-9:30 pm in the Rory Runnells Studio, Room 504, Artspace, 100 Arthur. Cost $110 for 5 classes
Facilitator Sue Proctor is a performer and workshop leader with the Winnipeg International Storytelling Festival and has developed many original stories and theatre pieces. A teacher with MTYP, Artists in the Schools and a member of the Manitoba Storytelling Guild, Sue has a M.A. in Theatre and Development, as well as background in commedia dell'arte, arts education, theatre for people with disabilities, and clown performance.
