Story Posts Project: Call for Submissions, Application Deadline September 30

Truth and Reconciliation: Story Posts Project

The Arts help to restore human dignity and identity in the face of injustice. Properly structured, they can also invite people to explore their own world-views, values, beliefs and attitudes that may be barriers to healing, justice and reconciliation. TRC #207

The Red Road Lodge/The Edge Gallery is welcoming art submissions for Truth and Reconciliation: Story Posts Project. We are seeking submissions from Indigenous and non-Indigenous Artists featuring work related to the subject of Truth and Reconciliation.

The Story Posts project invites groups and individuals to create works of art exploring reconciliation, ceremony, tradition, relationships, community, commemoration and healing. The intent is to challenge and educate the cultural understanding of Canada's past and current reality through art and public discourse with hopes of creating solidarity. Individuals can create their story by expressing their own world-views, values, beliefs and attitudes as it relates to reconciliation.

Our goal is to create a number of reconciliation events featuring Story Posts and other public art displays that will be shown in prominent locations throughout Winnipeg and Manitoba bringing awareness to Truth and Reconciliation.

All individuals and groups are encouraged to apply. However Story Posts Project focuses on participation from the following groups: Indigenous people (Status or Non-status), homeless or street involved, youth "in care" and "aging out of care", and people in the criminal justice system. Individuals who identify with and self-declare will be given priority.

First 100 participants whose submissions have been approved by our selection committee for public exhibition and/or reproduction will receive an honorarium of $25.00. A number of juried exhibitions will be held. Artworks will be for sale with the Artist receiving the purchase price of the work minus the Gallery commission (commission prices will vary within Galleries). Finalists may be selected to win one of four awards, ranging in value from $100.00 to $1,000.00.

Deadline for submissions will be September 30th 2017.

All submissions must submit a completed Application Form and sign Release Form. To receive an Artist Application or for more information, please contact our Project Facilitator by email at, by phone at (431) 996-2422 or by mail:
