Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra: The Twins and The Monster, January 14
Julian Pellicano, conductor
Sunday, January 14 - 2:00 pm
Based on a traditional African folk tale, this triumphant story travels through dark forests, vast plains and spooky swamps to deliver a thrilling tale of family unity and courage. The twins use their own song (in Swahili) to find each other just when things look hopeless. The story is complete with an exciting score by John Estacio.Beautiful carved masks, costumes, singing, and movement create an exotic atmosphere, as powerful music sweeps the young audience to a faraway land.
Children can participate in musical activities such as crafts, rhythm ensembles and round-singing. They can visit the Conducting Station where they will get the chance to conduct a group of musicians or visit the Instrument Petting Zoo to touch and play orchestral instruments. These activities are presented in partnership with Music for Young Children. Pre-Concert Activities begin at 1:00 PM.
