Art City: West Broadway Inclusivity Mural Project, Call Deadline January 31

Art City, in partnership with fellow West Broadway stakeholders including the Broadway Neighbourhood Centre (BNC) and Scatliff + Miller + Murray are seeking letters of interest from Winnipeg based artists to lead the West Broadway Skatepark Inclusivity Mural Project:

Site: The exterior walls/doors on all four sides of the BNC garage, with a special focus of the east-facing exterior wall facing the new skatepark. The mural can also extend onto the skatepark surfaces.

Goal: Create a collaborative mural/artwork with local youth in partnership with Art City that will promote a culture of inclusivity in the new skatepark. All who participate in the project should have creative input and feel a connection to the space.

Implementation: Spring 2018. Exact dates will be determined with the successful artist. Please keep in mind that the mural will mainly be created during Art City programming (after school) hours over the course of one week: 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm with support from Art City staff and volunteers. The artist will be responsible for the completion of the mural, and should also be available to work on the mural outside of Art City programming hours. This may mean extra hours or extra days extending past the scheduled workshop dates, depending on weather and other factors. Keep in mind that Art City participation is drop in and although there is a focus on school aged youth, all ages and abilities are welcome.

Artist fees: $2,625, payable upon completion of the project (point of completion to be determined with Art City Artistic Director)

Artist duos, collectives, or groups who successfully apply will divide the artist fees between their respective members.

Art City will purchase and pick up all art supplies, paint, rental equipment, etc. in consultation with the artist. The supply budget is separate from artist fees.

The successful artist must be available to communicate and meet with Art City's Artistic Directors and Studio Manager to plan the project, as well as attend the grand unveiling event based on the completion of the project (date to be determined).

Letters of interest must include:

• Artist's contact information and website/web presence if applicable

• Images of artist's own work relevant to mural and or/community art projects
