Blues for a Mustang is a collection of observations, commentary, aphorisms and mini plays disguised as poetry. Grant Guy migrated to stories and poetry but in many respects the work reflects his engagement as a man of the theatre. Theatre depicts before our eyes our human drama. Guy, in Blues for a Mustang, focuses on snippets of the drama rather than the epic.

Calamity Jane's whole life, as she crafted and reinvented it, was made up of lies she manufactured. In researching The Life and Lies of Calamity Jane, Guy uncovered truths that could spawn new lies. Both truth and lies were incorporated into this new collection.

Grant Guy is a Winnipeg writer and playwright. He was the founder and artistic director of Adhere + Deny. Guy's writings have appeared in hard copy and online in publications worldwide. He has three previous books, two chapbooks, and a number of original and adapted plays. Guy has designed for many theatre companies in Winnipeg and across Canada. Guy is the recipient of the Manitoba Arts Council's Award of Distinction (2004) and the Winnipeg Arts Council's Making a Difference Award (2017).
