The Royal Winnipeg Ballet is seeking a School Director to join our team. The School Director, in conjunction with the Director of School Operations, is responsible for the leadership and management of the Professional and Recreational Divisions of the RWB School.

THE position

As the School Director, you are responsible for the artistic direction of the School and the safety, health, and well-being of students. In this position, you oversee the academic programs of the RWB School and the School Artistic faculty, and actively participate as a member of the RWB leadership and senior management teams.

Highlighted duties of the role

  • Oversee and provide artistic direction for the School
  • Oversee student safety, health, and well-being
  • Lead the strategic and business planning for the School
  • Lead and manage recruitment, training, and evaluation of School teachers
  • Lead and manage student recruitment, enrollment, and development
  • Manage the academic programs and relationships of the School
  • Oversee the student Residence and programming
  • Build and maintain local, national, and international connections and relationships
  • Oversee dance curriculums and evaluation of student progress
  • Teach and rehearse within the School
  • Cast students for RWB productions
  • Support the School budget preparation

what you bring

  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in the dance education industry
  • Experience teaching the Russian system of classical ballet, and at various levels
  • Notable professional dance performance experience with a respected reputation in the international dance community
  • 5 years or more of administrative/executive experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, coupled with the ability to plan and organize
  • Proven communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
  • Working knowledge of Windows, Excel, and Outlook
  • In-depth knowledge of instructional trends, professional development, school improvement processes, student assessment systems, socio-emotional support, and interdisciplinary instructional approaches
  • Experience with fundraising, board relations, finance and operations an asset
  • 4 year University/College Degree an asset
