The Winnipeg Art Gallery is home to the largest public collection of contemporary Inuit art in the world. To celebrate the art and to honour Inuit people and culture, the WAG is building an Inuit Art Centre, the first of its kind anywhere.
The Centre and its accompanying programming will function as a conduit, connecting people from the North and South. It will serve as a venue for exhibitions and programs, research and learning, studio practice and art-making. These activities provide a unique opportunity to learn about Inuit history, culture, and Canada as a whole.
As a home to promote reconciliation, the Inuit Art Centre will enhance the way we learn about culture and history, as well as the Arctic. We hope to raise a more knowledgeable and caring generation who know only a time when Indigenous people, their culture, and livelihoods are respected and understood.
As the only Centre of its kind in the world, this is an important project for our Province. And we're looking for the right person to join the team to help ensure the Centre becomes a reality.
Under the supervision of the Inuit Art Centre Campaign Director and direction of the IAC Community Campaign Co-Chairs, the Community Campaign Coordinator will be responsible for planning, organizing and coordinating a successful multifaceted Community Campaign that inspires the community to engage with the project as donors, volunteers and advocates.
The Community Campaign will include events, workplace campaigns, direct solicitations and a speakers bureau.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Work with the Community Campaign Chairs and Campaign Director to develop a comprehensive plan, and activities within, to maximize revenue generation and community engagement.
• Implement the community campaign plans, including:
• Prioritizing campaign activities.
• Supporting and engaging volunteers.
• In consultation with the Communications department, developing strong marketing and promotions.
• Overseeing budgets, expenses and fiscal controls.
• Drafting recognition and stewardship protocols and plans.
• Evaluating activities of the Community Campaign with respect to fundraising efficiency, community engagement and volunteer satisfaction.
• Provide administrative support to the Community Campaign volunteer team.
• Offer amazing customer service to volunteer and, participants throughout the campaign.
• Be the on-site coordinator with WAG Departments during the campaign fundraising activities, staff, vendors, and volunteers.
• Identify and network with corporations and community groups to engage their support.
• Maintain a strong working knowledge of the mission of the WAG and its programs.
Education & Experience Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree.
• 3+ years fundraising, communications, sales, marketing experience with an emphasis on fundraising and event coordination.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proven event and project management capabilities.
• Capable of managing multiple priorities effectively.
• Demonstration of professional maturity and judgment.
• Ability to work with different leadership styles and personalities.
• Detail-oriented and highly organized.
• Knowledge of MS Office Suite, Raiser's Edge or other fundraising software.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends required.
