Cluster is now accepting submissions from local experimental curators, artists, and curatorial teams to take part in the upcoming 2019 new music and integrated arts festival. Cluster is seeking proposals for an exciting and surprising event that is bold, immediate and critical. The festival takes place February 28 - March 3, 2019 at various venues around downtown Winnipeg. The selected candidate will program and produce one event during the 2019 edition of Cluster Festival.

Cluster Festival is an artist-run performance and sound festival dedicated to presenting work from contemporary artists working in a variety of disciplines. Cluster strives to offer a platform for artists to create, experiment, and collaborate. Cluster is propelled by strength found in numbers and the energy created by integrating diverse artistic communities – combining collectivity with individual sensibility. Cluster has presented over 250 artists and over 30 events since the festival's inception in 2010, and consistently seeks new ways of engaging with diverse publics.

The candidate(s) will be responsible for programming and producing one event as part of Cluster 2019. This includes communications, bookings, production, and promotion (with support from the Cluster team). Cluster believes in supporting and empowering the candidate(s) to take the lead in all aspects of their event.

Experience / Candidate Requirements:

  • An active participant in Manitoba's artistic scene
  • Highly creative, with an experimental attitude toward artistic creation and production
  • 2+ years experience in either artistic creation, production, and/or promotion
  • Self-directed and responsible with an ability to manage multiple projects

Compensation: $2000 honorarium + an event budget of $2000

Commitment: The candidate will work with the festival to ensure their event is well-attended, promoted across a variety of media, accessible, and free from cultural appropriation. The candidate will meet bi-weekly with Cluster to discuss ideas and progress. The candidate will confirm artists and venue by January 15, 2019.
