Sunday, May 5, 2019 – 2:00pm-3:30pm
Assiniboine Park has been welcoming visitors for 110 years. This walk will visit all of the park's iconic landmarks- the pavilion, foot bridge, English Garden, the site of the former two conservatories, the riverine forest, the perimeter of the zoo and the site of the new Diversity Garden. Along the walk the history of Assiniboine Park and all its features will be explained. The history of the park will be placed in the context of nineteenth and twentieth century park development in Canada and the United States. The walk precedes the launch of a history book on the park by David Spector entitled "Assiniboine Park - Designing and Developing a People's Playground."
