2018 Individual Artist Grant Program

Deadlines and Program Changes

The 2018 Individual Artist grant guidelines and forms are now available on the Grants for Artists page. The program guidelines and eligibility remain unchanged: professional Winnipeg artists can apply for support for the creation of new work in any art form, or the development, production, curation or exhibition of works of art by Winnipeg artists.  There are two deadlines for this program: Tuesday, March 13 and Tuesday, September 11. Artists intending to seek support from the Winnipeg Arts Council in 2018 should be aware of some new dimensions to this program.

Beginning at the March 13 deadline, the maximum grant levels have been increased to $3,000 for emerging artists and $7,000 for mid-career and established artists.

As in the past, artists self-identify in either category and the decision should be based upon their degree of experience in discipline of the proposed project rather than by project costs.  For more information about determining one’s status, please consult the program guidelines here.

Professional artists who are Deaf, have disabilities or who are living with mental illness may be eligible for additional support for access costs. Professional artists who identify in these groups should contact the Program Manager in advance of the application date for details. Eligible expenses are those which assist the artist in the completion of the project but are not intended for capital costs or accessibility supports needed for day-to-day living.

Professional artists intending to produce works as part of a collective for the 2018 Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival should apply to the Project Grant program rather than the Individual Artist Grant program.  Please note that the Project Grant program has only one deadline, Tuesday February 13 2018. Collectives must contact the Program & Arts Development Manager before applying to confirm eligibility.
