Temporary Guidelines for the Professional Development Grant Program
The Winnipeg Arts Council’s Professional Development Grant was suspended in March 2020 due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Since that time, thousands of performances, exhibitions, festivals and other arts events have been cancelled. However, we recognize that during this time there are other opportunities for artists and arts administrators to build their practices.
The program is being reinstated effective immediately, and will support professional development opportunities which can be conducted in an environment that does not require travel and respects physical distancing.
New, temporary program guidelines have been posted at our website. Artists and arts administrators interested in seeking support should read the guidelines prior to applying at winnipegarts.gosmart.org.
The program’s objectives have not changed. Grants are intended to provide partial support to artists, arts administrators, or arts educators for activities that contribute to their professional development and enhance their careers in the arts. Such activities may include unique opportunities for short-term study (beyond basic training) in a formal or informal setting, mentorships or master classes.
- No applications which require travel will be accepted until further notice.
- There is no fixed deadline however applications must be received at least four weeks prior to the start of the proposed activity to be considered.
- The maximum request under this program has temporarily been increased to 75% of the total eligible costs, to a maximum of $1,000. Partial funding may be considered.
Prospective applicants are encouraged to read the temporary guidelines and then consult with Dominic Lloyd or Genevieve Collins prior to applying. For more information and to read the temporary guidelines please visit the Grants for Artists page of our website.
