Alice in Wonderland
In this original production, the audience is invited to follow Alice into a magical world of surprising encounters with puzzling and enigmatic characters. The classic novels by Lewis Carroll have been adapted numerous times for film and ballet, but in the company’s version, the story draws on the language of Spanish dance to bring a range of figures to life. The familiar Mad Hatter and Cheshire Cat appear, as well as hedgehogs, flamingos, and dancing playing cards. Throughout the production, traditional Spanish dance styles are showcased, from rhythmic flamenco to more lyrical balletic bolero school dances. The audience can expect a visual treat, where Spanish fans and castanets combine with colourful costumes and lively music for a family-friendly show.
Alice in Wonderland takes place Saturday, May 18th at 7:30 pm and Sunday, May 19th at 2 pm. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under, and are available in advance at www.bolerodancetheatre.ca .
