Archivist
Winnipeg's Contemporary Dancers is looking for an Archivist or someone with strong technical skills who can complete work to support the Project: Organize, preserve and share the archive of Winnipeg's Contemporary Dancers. The Archivist will complete the digitizing and properly catalogue and back up materials.
Job Type: Contract/Project. The contract starts June 3, 2024, until project completion, June 3-27, Fall 2024/Winter 2025.
Funding: Centennial Institute Grant in support of WCD's 60th Anniversary.
Expected hours: 12 – 30 per week. Number of hours worked per day - flexible
Schedule: Number of days worked per week are also flexible as long as all work is completed between 10:00am-4:00pm, Monday through Friday.
Work Location: Winnipeg, 211 Bannatyne Ave
In-person and on-site at WCD
Accountability: Reports to the Artistic Director and Administrator.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Digitize: scan and photograph to transfer the unique archival materials - photos, programs, posters, articles, correspondences, etc - to electronic media
Handle fragile and archival materials with appropriate care
Organize the digital archive naming files according to the chosen system
Review old files and correlate them to existing files on digital storage
REQUIREMENTS:
Familiar with existing methods and techniques for digitizing printed materials; know methodologies, best practices, and tools;
Have experience scanning/digitizing/photographing
A self-motivated, initiative person who can work alone and in collaboration with other
A detail-oriented person who is highly organized and methodical
Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work
Asset: Experience working with archival material in all formats; Previous archival or library experience
Legally able to work in Canada

Ability to physically lift up to 50 lbs
Pay: Hourly rate $18-$21; Depending on Experience
