Call to Artists: The Orange Hub Rehabilitation Public Art Project
The Edmonton Arts Council, on behalf of the City of Edmonton, is seeking an artist or artist team to create an artwork to be installed on the west façade of the new parkade as part of The Orange Hub rehabilitation project. The call is open to local and national professional artists and artist teams/collectives who reside in Canada.
The selected artist or artist team may conduct research and engage with The Orange Hub community when developing concepts for The Orange Hub Public Art Project. If it is relevant to your process, you may include your preliminary ideas for research and engagement in your submission.
Orange Hub Parkade Project Description
The artwork will face 156 St. at 100 Ave. The selected artist will utilize the parkade’s double layer chain link façade as a canvas, directly incorporating their work onto the façade. Artworks will be installed on the outermost layer of chain link. Attachment methods will be approved by the Edmonton Arts Council and the City of Edmonton prior to artwork installation. The selected artist is responsible for all aspects of designing and installing their artwork.
Submission deadline: Monday, June 12 at 11:59 pm MST
Budget: Artwork Commission $85,000
Eligibility: Open to local and national professional artists and artist teams/collectives who reside in Canada.
Artwork installation: Spring 2024
Submissions will be accepted through the Edmonton Arts Council's online portal at eac.smartsimple.ca.
