Communications Specialist

We are looking for a Communications Specialist to create content, engage directly with our current, past and future patrons and donors, and make sure our stories are heard.

COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

The Communications Specialist is a member of the dynamic team charged with developing and implementing strategies to engage with the community, grow the WSO’s audiences, and achieve sales and fundraising targets. The portfolio focuses on strategy, creating content, engaging with patrons, building relationships with media, and providing communications support to the entire WSO organization.

The Communications Specialist supports the WSO’s core activities, including concerts and other artistic initiatives at the Centennial Concert Hall and other locations around Winnipeg and Manitoba, the Holiday Tour, the Winnipeg New Music Festival, education and community programs, and fund development.

The Communications Specialist is well-versed in organizational priorities and activities, liaising with Artistic Operations, Education & Community, Development & Advancement, Patron Services, and Senior Management. They are responsible for ensuring consistency of information at all touchpoints.

The Communications Specialist is an excellent writer and editor, knows the value of deadlines, has a pronounced eye for detail, and understands marketing and design principles. They are creative and possess a high degree of initiative, judgment and analytic ability. They are a strategic thinker and self- reliant team player.
