Hiring: DRAMA OUTREACH COORDINATOR
Manitoba Theatre for Young People is one of the largest theatres for young audiences in Canada and plays a leading role in theatre in the country. MTYP has the privilege of being located on Treaty 1 territory and the homeland of the Metis Nation, operating out of the first purpose- built facility for theatre for young audiences in Canada, situated at the Forks in Winnipeg. Known for its new works and commitment to creation, MTYP is also a hub for touring companies from across Canada and around the world and itself tours for 15- 19 weeks each year. In addition to its productions and touring, MTYP Theatre School enjoys the participation of 1,600 students annually and is proud be the home of Native Youth Theatre.
MTYP is seeking an individual to join its team as the School’s Drama Outreach Coordinator. This is a 0.8 position, working 4 days a week , responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Drama Outreach Program that encompasses workshops, residencies, satellite programs, and other special activities. The Drama Outreach Coordinator also aids in the teaching of workshops to children, youth and adults (educators and professionals), while supporting the School’s programming and administrative functions.
Reporting to the School Director, the Drama Outreach Coordinator fulfills various artistic and educational functions, as well as administrative, financial, human resource, communications and community relations responsibilities.
To be a successful in this role, Candidates should be highly organized, creative and have strong written and verbal communication skills, work well with moderate levels of supervision, and appreciate opportunities for collaboration with fellow team members. Those who thrive in busy environments working towards the successful completion of multiple projects would do well in this position.
Additionally requirements for success:
- Minimum high school diploma coupled with at least three years of experience working in administrative roles.
- Proficiency with standard Window applications and aptitude for learning new computer programs and databases.
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Candidates with the following experience or knowledge in addition to the above will be preferred:
- Degree or diploma from a university or college in theatre and/ or theatre arts education.
- Supervisory, management, or leadership experience.
- Contract negotiation and administration.
- Prior knowledge of and comfort collaborating with Manitoba’s School Divisions,
- Familiarity working within CRM databases.
- Aptitude and appreciation for customer service and sales principles.

This is a full-time, 4 days/week, permanent position. The annual salary is $35,000, prorated to a 0.8 FTE. The compensation package also includes an opportunity to participate in the MTYP health plan (pending eligibility as determined by the provider), matching RSP program, and vacation days provided, accrued annually at a rate of 6%, equally 12 days for a .8 FTE role. Standard hours of work are 9am- 5pm Monday-Thursday, during the majority of the calendar year. A requirement to work evenings and weekend will be present during peak activity and in support of various School Programs. This position will be required to perform their work functions onsite at MTYP’s facility.
Anticipated start date is July 8, 2024.
