Calling all students grades 8-12! Join us as we kick off the 2024-25 school year with singing, exercises, and activities that will teach you new skills, introduce you to new friends, and challenge you to become a better singer and leader in your own choir.

This two-day professional development event is designed for young choir singers in grades 8-12 (and recent graduates) to learn choral skills and explore topics and activities around: vocal technique, warm-ups, intro to conducting, songwriting, improvisation, IDEA, social justice, and other leadership topics. Singers will have the opportunity to make music together, hear from presenters and fellow students, and build community over the two days, with the goal of inspiring students to continue singing during and beyond high school, and even consider a future career in the choral arts and/or choral music education.

Teachers, conductors, and adult singers are welcome to attend to accompany choristers and/or observe the event. Thanks to generous financial support from Winnipeg Arts Council/City of Song and from the Province of Manitoba Arts, Culture, and Sport in Community Fund, MCA is able to offer this program at heavily subsidized rates for both students and adults! Group rates are available for MCA members.
