Theatre Projects Manitoba (TPM) is looking for a Programming & Communications Coordinator to join our dynamic team through Canada Summer Jobs. The Programming and Communications Coordinator will creatively support TPM from May 29-August 18, 2023 (with a three week Hiatus during our summer office closure) focusing on supporting the general operations of the organization with an emphasis on creative communication and artistic coordination. The successful applicant will be expected to work in our office and on location for our events, with occasional remote work possible.

The Programming and Communications Coordinator will be mentored by TPM’s Artistic Director and Interim Producer over the course of 9 weeks gaining hands-on practice in a range of skills and creative tasks directly contributing to the communications management of a small professional theatre company, including creating and executive project specific work plans, building and executing a communications strategy, and engaging with TPM’s diverse stakeholders across many platforms.

Priority will be given to a strong candidate who identifies as Indigenous, Métis, Black, a Person of Colour, or otherwise as part of the Global Majority, but all candidates who are passionate about helping spread the word about live theatre are encouraged to apply. 

Length of Contract: May 29 – June 23rd, on hiatus Jun 23 – July 16, Resume work July 17 – August 18th.

Rate of Pay: $18/hour, 30 hours a week for 9 weeks. 

Work will include: 

Artistic coordination:

-Working closely with the full TPM team to support the execution of all artistic programming activities remaining in the 2022-23 season.

Communications and Social Media Coordination:

-Update, write copy, create imagery for TPM’s website, newsletter & social media. 

-In consultation with the AD, build a calendar and manage rollout of campaigns on social media channels (Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook) and through TPM’s newsletter.

-Assist with any hardcopy mailer campaigns including coordinating volunteers as needed.

Graphic Design

-Assist in reporting & laying out TPM’s Annual Report.

-Generate graphic assets for the 2023/24 season, with provided imagery. 

Assisting with general operations of the company:

-Regular check-ins with the AD to triage work for the week, to report back on work in progress & ask questions/get further support.

-Data management as pertains to managing front facing communication (updating patron and donor contacts etc)

-Helping to manage administrative projects in preparation for the fall season.

Other duties as required.

Mentorship & supervision from leadership can/will be provided for all above work.

Qualifications/Skills: 

-Strong written and verbal communication skills  

-Strong creative eye for visual layouts / designs (familiarity with Canva and Wordpress an asset)

-Strong knowledge of social media platforms (especially Facebook and Instagram)

-Knowledge/interest in theatre and/or arts administration  

-Skills/understanding in Microsoft Office suite 

-Self-motivated and able to complete tasks in a timely way

-General digital fluency

-Training or experience in Creative Communications an asset
