“Métis.ses dénudé.e.s” by Eric Plamondon
"MÉTIS.SES DÉNUDÉ.E.S" by Eric Plamondon
January 11 - March 2, 2024
Main Gallery - La Maison des artistes visuels francophones
Opening Reception: Thursday, January 11th at 7pm
Anchored in knowledge, customs, influences and confluences of the land of muddy waters, pluridisciplinary artist Eric Plamondon presents a series of portraits of Métis living today among us. Photographed while stripped from any cultural codes, Eric forces a more detailed glance at these people full of life, and fully vulnerable. Deploying ancient techniques (sometimes) and modern techniques (occasionally), their images are transferred to various mediums (canvas, paper, rawhyde, metal, etc) allowing individuality while complexifying our comprehension of Métis’ skin and body. The exhibition is a visual manifestation of ongoing conversations in our society. The individual (the audience) standing in front of the individual (the person being photographed) and letting the details speak for themselves, for who they are, their lived experience and this moment, captured through photography.
