Manager of Finance at Animiki See Digital Production

Key Responsibilities:

• Conducts regular analytical reviews of Animiki See financial statements;

• Completes the monthly, quarterly and yearly financial reports;

• Manages the General Ledger, ensuring that all accounts are accurate, current and reliable, with the aid of continuity schedules;

• Prepares and reviews journal entries and postings to the General Ledger;

• In conjunction with the General Manager, prepares the departmental annual work plan, budget, cash flow projections and accrual reports;

• Ensures all financial related documents are prepared and filed with the appropriate authorities;

• Plans for, prepares and assists external auditors with the annual audit;

• Manages all of Animiki See’s office requirements including purchase of office supplies and maintenance of office equipment;

• Researches potential funding opportunities (including access to markets, training funds and production funding);

• Participates in interdepartmental meetings as they relate to financial activities;

• Prepares, analyzes and verifies payroll reports containing summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, vacation, disability, and non-taxable wages;

• Verifies payroll each pay period to ensure changes have been processed accurately;

• Calculates, reconciles the timely remittances of other payroll related items including but not limited to: Manitoba Health and Education Tax, WCB, garnishments, RRSP contributions and CRA;

• Maintains employee benefits and pension plans data. Provides advice, guidance and assistance to employees on benefits related inquiries;

• For shows produced by Animiki See Digital Production Inc., open and reconcile bank accounts, prepare monthly cost reports, and at the end of production, provide final costs against budget to producers.

Key Responsibilities for Co-Production Companies:

• Collaborates with Co-Producer(s) to create cost reports for productions, as needed;

• Manages funding agreements and monitors invoicing schedule;

• Sets up interim financing for productions, including execution of documents and closing lists;

• Assists with ensuring all single-purpose production companies are established;

• Prepares tax credits applications for productions;

• Prepares CRTC applications;

• Oversees all pre-production, production and post-accounting;

• Oversees transfer of data once the production has been audited and tax credits received;

• Monitors labour spending;

• Hires and supervises freelance accountants as required, subject to approval by the Co-General Managers.

Key Requirements:

• Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline, combined with proven related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Proficiency with Internet, E-mail and other business-related computer software is required

• Broadcasting knowledge is an asset

• Experience with an Indigenous organization and culture is an asset
