Rooted in Community
We’re excited to invite you to Rooted in Community on November 16th from 1:30-3:30 PM at TakeHome BIPOC Arthouse! Join us for a transformative climate emotions workshop and letter-writing blitz designed to foster connection, creativity, and action.
In the face of rising extreme weather events, it’s more important than ever to engage with our feelings about climate change. This event will provide a safer space for Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour to come together, share experiences, and channel emotions like grief, anger, and hope into creative expression.
What to Expect:
- Collage-making: We will be using art to dream about a climate-resilient future.
- Letter-writing blitz: Send postcards to all levels of government advocating for real climate action.
- Guest Speaker: Opening remarks from Clayton Thomas Müller and his son Felix Peter
- Snacks and Community: Enjoy light vegetarian snacks, meet new friends, and connect with others who share your passion for climate justice!
- Giveaway: Enter for a chance to win a Climate Dreaming Journal from Shake Up the Establishment and we will also be giving away some self-care goodies!
Accessibility & Transportation:
- The venue is wheelchair accessible, and we’ll provide bus tickets if transportation is a barrier.
- Gender neutral bathrooms will be on site.
- Public street parking is available, with bike racks located at the venue.
- Children are welcome, and while the workshop may touch on heavier topics, the space is open to participants of all ages.
For any questions or accessibility concerns, feel free to reach out to us at [email protected].
Let’s come together to support one another, share our stories, and inspire action for a sustainable future. We look forward to seeing you there!
Please note that this event is for Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC). If you are not BIPOC, we kindly ask that you do not register.
