Join the WJO at the Centre Culturel Franco-Manitobain for Fascinating Rhythm: The Music of Gershwin! George Gershwin, one of the greatest composers of all time, helped to usher in the Jazz Age of the 1920s, taking the world by storm with his genre-spanning works and his toe-tapping musicals. The WJO will be bringing his legendary legacy of music to life with their renditions of some of his most celebrated songs, including Fascinating Rhythm, Someone to Watch Over Me, Summertime, They Can't Take That Away from Me, and Glenn Miller’s and Duke Ellington’s arrangements of Rhapsody in Blue. And any great Gershwin performance wouldn't be complete without an an equally excellent vocalist! For this concert event, the WJO will be reaching across Canada to invite Montreal's scintillating singer/songwriter Sonia Johnson. This Juno nominated Jazz artist has been hailed as a daring improvisor and her flexible vocal range makes her the perfect fit for a set list straight from the mind of one jazz's best and brightest! This springtime will be where the living's easy with two chances to see fascinating rhythm, mind-bending music, and Sonia Johnson! Who could ask for anything more?
