TIMELINE: Rehearsals Begin: Monday, August 26, 2024 Performances September 19-29, 2024

SYNOPSIS: Sixteen years after graduation, Mitch happens to catch Morrie’s appearance on a television news program and learns that his old professor is battling Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Mitch is reunited with Morrie, and what starts as a simple visit turns into a weekly pilgrimage and a last class in the meaning of life. SEEKING: Morrie: 78. At the top of play, 62. A passionate sociology professor with a quintessential Jewish American sense of humour, Morrie lives for connecting to people, sharing ideas, and bringing the best out in his students. Smart as a whip, very well read; increasingly vulnerable due to his declining health. Mitch: 38; at top of play, 21. Morrie’s former student at university, Mitch is now a career driven sports writer and TV personality. He shies away from emotional vulnerability to protect himself from the pain of loss. As he reconnects with Morrie, he rediscovers his humanity, and the joy of giving - and receiving - love. Very intelligent (though not wise); Great sense of humour. Both of these characters have a very Jewish sensibility (Yiddishkeit) and sense of using humour to get through the darkest times of life.
