During COVID, live presenting arts organizations stopped running events forcing an undefined number of workers to find alternate employment. Post COVID, many presenting arts organizations noted that technical event workers such as audio techs, production managers, and stage managers left the sector to find other work and have not returned to the sector, creating notable shortages in these skills areas. This technical work tends to be gig work, moving from one employer to another over time – making the job somewhat precarious in the first place.
To better quantify and address this perceived skills-based labour shortage, Creative Manitoba is seeking a contractor to undertake a labour market analysis that will provide a clear data analysis of the stated skills gap and develop recommendations for addressing the challenges identified
