Writing From Art and Creating From Poems
Writing From Art and Creating From Poems is a FREE ekphrasis art workshop led by literary artist Christine Stewart-Nuñez at MHC Gallery on April 6, 2-4pm.
*please note: this is a free workshop, but supplies are limited, so please register to secure a spot!
Ekphrasis is an ancient practice based in the act of writing from art, and illustration (or translation) is visually composing from written texts.
In this generative workshop, you’ll craft a poem, create a visual piece, and consider the relationships between these two composing processes. Leave with a poem, a piece of visual art, and a new way to engage your creative practices. Bring an open mind and be ready to experiment! No experience in either artistic practice necessary; all supplies will be provided.
The workshop will take place on the main floor of MHC Gallery. Come early and also take in BrushStrokes & Bluewords , a new exhibition featuring visual art by Pauline Aitken and text by Christine Stewart-Nuñez (exhibition on the 2nd floor, accessible by stairs only).
