Grants
With a focus on artistic excellence and community impact, the Winnipeg Arts Council supports opportunities for the people of Winnipeg to engage with the arts as artists and as audiences. Responding to evolving practices and the needs of Winnipeg’s diverse artistic community, In 2021, WAC invested $3,863,323 into the thriving Winnipeg arts scene through our diverse and peer-assessed grant programs.
Grants for Artists
The Winnipeg Arts Council provides funding to professional artists through the following multidisciplinary grant programs.

Individual Artist Grant Program for Winnipeg Artists working in all disciplines
The Individual Artist Grant Program is intended to support the creation of new work in any art form, or the development, production, curation, or exhibition of works of art by Winnipeg artists.

Professional Development Grant
The Professional Development grant program is intended to provide partial support to artists, arts administrators, or arts educators for activities that contribute to their professional development and enhance their careers in the arts. Such activities may include unique opportunities for short-term study (beyond basic training) in a formal or informal setting, mentorships, or master classes.
Grants for Arts Administrators
The Winnipeg Arts Council provides funding to support the development of professional arts administrators employed by not-for-profit Winnipeg arts organizations through the following grant programs.

The Professional Research & Development grant program is intended to provide partial support to artists, arts administrators, or arts educators for activities that contribute to their professional development and enhance their careers in the arts. Such activities may include unique opportunities for short-term study (beyond basic training) in a formal or informal setting, mentorships, or master classes.
Grants for Arts Organizations and Collectives
The Winnipeg Arts Council provides funding to not-for-profit Winnipeg arts organizations through the following multidisciplinary grant programs.

Project Grant Program for Arts Organizations & Collectives
The Project Grant Program for Arts Organizations & Collectives is intended for new and developing arts organizations, established arts organizations that work on a project basis, and arts organizations undertaking a special, one-time initiative.

Multi-Year Grant Programs for Arts Organizations
Three-year Operating Grants and two-year Program Support Grants make contributions to the operations of incorporated established arts organizations with a continuing presence in Winnipeg throughout the year or seasonally, and a track record of high-quality programming or services.

The New Creations Fund for Arts Organizations
The New Creations Fund encourages and supports creativity in Winnipeg by making funding available that contributes to the creation of significant and innovative new works of art in any discipline or combination of disciplines, the scope of which may not otherwise be possible.
Grants for Museums
The Winnipeg Arts Council provides funding to museums through the following multidisciplinary grant programs.

Museums Grants
Museums Grants contribute to the activities and operations of museums presenting a range of interpretation and educational activities on an ongoing basis throughout the year or seasonally. Grants are intended for museums with a demonstrated organizational capacity as well as a history of consistent programming/presentation and public support.
