You're a mean one Mr. Grinch
With shoes too tight and a heart two sizes too small.
He can't play jazz, he can't swing at all.
But whatever his reason, his heart or his shoes,
Even the Grinch can feel the blues.

After wowing audiences last March, the WJO all-female version returns for another concert celebrating women in jazz.  Mary Lou Williams was a prolific composer and pianist as was Lil Harden-Armstrong before her. Guitarists Mary Osborne and Emily Remler were respected and busy bebop musicians. Vocalist and saxophonist Vi Redd was a tour de force. And trombonist Melba Liston was a gifted player who played in Dizzy Gillespie's big band alongside numerous other projects.
