Best known for its flagship festival, Folklorama is a vibrant not-for-profit organization that operates 365 days year, bringing people together by sharing ethno-cultural experiences and education. Folklorama is seeking a motivated team member to join our marketing and communications team as Coordinator, Design, Branding & Communications. This role is responsible for advancing Folklorama’s visual identity and brand storytelling through thoughtful design, engaging content, and consistent brand management across all platforms. The successful candidate will have a strong eye for design, excellent project coordination skills, and a passion for promoting cultural diversity and community pride. Working collaboratively with internal teams, partners, and creative agencies, the Coordinator, Design, Branding & Communications will help ensure that every visual touchpoint reflects Folklorama’s values and inspires audiences year-round.
Terms of employment: Permanent Full-time beginning on January 5, 2026, 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday. You will be required to work some evening and weekends throughout the year as well as extensive hours in the weeks leading up to and during the flagship Folklorama Festival (first two weeks of August). Work location is Folklorama Head Offices at 2nd Floor, 183 Kennedy Street in Winnipeg, MB. Annual starting salary for this role is $45,000, as well as a comprehensive Group Benefit package after 3-months.

Primary Accountabilities
- Design and produce all in-house creative materials, including annual reports, operational plans, fulfillment reports, and other organizational design projects, ensuring alignment with Folklorama’s brand standards.
- Oversee the production and delivery of the annual Folklorama Festival Travel Guide, coordinating with internal teams, partners, and vendors to ensure accuracy, quality, and timely publication.
- Work with Folklorama’s creative agency and the Director, Marketing, Communications & Engagement to coordinate the design, production, and placement of all Festival marketing assets, maintaining brand consistency and meeting campaign timelines.
- Support the development and implementation of Folklorama’s annual content calendar, contributing to integrated storytelling across social media, email, web, and other communication channels.
- Manage and maintain the Folklorama website, ensuring content accuracy, accessibility, and alignment with organizational priorities and SEO best practices.
- Maintain and evolve Folklorama’s brand identity by ensuring all digital and print materials, presentations, and communications adhere to established brand guidelines.
- Assist the Director, Marketing, Communications & Engagement with media relations activities, including media monitoring, tracking coverage, and planning for Folklorama’s annual pre-Festival media event.
- Support the design and execution of Folklorama’s annual #GivingTuesday fundraising campaign, ensuring engaging creative, cohesive messaging, and measurable impact.
- Collaborate with the Coordinator, Community Relations & Partnerships to ensure fulfillment and execution of all partner marketing benefits across digital and print channels.
- Support the planning and production of photo and video content during the Folklorama
- Festival, capturing authentic moments that reflect the organization’s mission and cultural vibrancy.
- Support the management of Folklorama’s social media channels
- Research, write, and publish SEO-driven blog content to strengthen Folklorama’s online presence, celebrate cultural stories, and engage diverse audiences throughout the year.
Required qualifications include the following skills and abilities:
- Degree or diploma in Creative Communications; other post-secondary degrees in marketing, communications or related disciplines may be considered.
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in similar role
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
- Photography, videography, and editing skills
- Experience managing websites and digital content; familiarity with content management systems (e.g., WordPress) and SEO best practices.
- Familiarity with social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, LinkedIn, and YouTube
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
- Community and culturally minded, results-driven individual
- Superior organizational and project management skills
- Detail oriented and focused with a high level of initiative and energy
- Ability to produce high-quality work on a deadline and comfortable managing multiple projects and priorities
- Demonstrated ability to think creatively and analytically
