Employment Opportunity: Development, Outreach and Communications (DOC) Coordinator (Deadline)

Sick + Twisted Theatre is a not-for-profit professional theatre company that creates work through the lens of the lived experience of disability. In addition to developing and producing shows, we run a community choir, an audio description service and a live streaming service.

We are looking for someone to join our team who has experience working in the nonprofit and/or arts and cultural sector, is passionate about access and inclusion and wants to learn more about fundraising. Our young organization is growing and we are looking for someone to grow with us.

The DOC coordinator is a part-time term position consisting of 20 hours per week for 40 weeks.

Rate of pay: $25 per hour

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The goal of this position is to elevate the public profile of our company in order to help us connect with more performers with disabilities, expand accessibility services for disabled audience members and diversify our revenue streams.

Communications

Goal: to elevate the profile of all aspects of our work through social media, direct email, press releases, and other creative campaigns.

Duties include:

• developing and implementing marketing campaigns for productions

• maintaining a social media presence between productions

• expanding and updating the website

• creation of promotional material including social media content, videos and posters

• Support organizational strategic priorities of increasing participation and community connections

• Maintain and expand a network of partnerships

• work with the Artistic Director and Artistic Producer and Audio Description Coordinator to identify areas of growth.


Outreach

Goals: to expand the audience base for our theatrical productions, live audio description and live streaming programs and to expand the presenter base for live audio description and live streaming programs

Duties Include

• outreach to schools or youth focused community groups for our holiday productions

• building partnerships with disability service organizations

• develop a database of livestream users

• coordinate livestream service

• work with live audio description coordinator to expand presenter base

• creating access guides for our productions


Development

Goal: to diversify our revenue streams in order to increase our programming and make this job a permanent position

Duties Include:

• researching new sources of funding for our organization

• developing relationships with corporate donors and sponsors

• coordinating fundraising campaigns for general revenue as well as for our endowment fund.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Experience in digital and social media content creation and accessible content creation (alt text, captions)

• Experience with Canva, MS office, MailChimp

• Experience working with various access needs.

• Demonstrated skills in community engagement and ability to work in an anti-oppressive framework

• Experience in the non-profit sector an asset.

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

• Strong project management and organizational abilities.

• Self-motivated with a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset.

• Detail-oriented with creative problem-solving skills.

Must possess strong communication skills, with the ability to convey ideas clearly (written, verbal, or through other adaptable methods), excellent organizational skills, reliability and demonstrated capacity to work as part of a team, the ability to take direction and to self-direct.
