In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to transform black-and-white film negatives into high-quality digital files using PLATFORM scanning equipment. All are welcome at any skill level, the session will cover the full workflow: from preparing negatives and selecting scanning settings to understanding file formats, resolution, and post-scan editing basics.

Participants will also learn how to access and use PLATFORM’s Digital Workspace for future scanning needs, ensuring they can continue exploring and digitizing their work independently. By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with digitized negatives and the knowledge to confidently scan on your own.

Participants are asked to bring the following:

- Black-and-white negatives (35mm or 120)

- Notebook or phone for notes (optional)

- USB drive for digital files (optional)

- A laptop to connect to PLATFORM's scanner -- our scanner has a USB-A connection, please bring an adapter if your computer only has a USB-C port. (optional)

BIOGRAPHY

Zoë LeBrun (she/they) is an emerging multidisciplinary artist and PLATFORM's Membership + Education Coordinator. Working primarily with sound, video, installation, and image transfers, their conceptual focus is on the body, perception, and automatism.
