New Voices, New Faces - MCO’s 2024 Spring Series

MCO’S 2024 SPRING CONCERT SERIES

CRESCENT ARTS CENTRE

SPRING BEGINS ONE DAY EARLY at the MCO, with our hot Spring Concert Series blowing into town on March 20, 2024. “‘New Voices, New Faces,’ is one theme making the MCO season’s second half unique,” says MCO Music Director Anne Manson.

Many of our guests are new to MCO audiences but known the world over for their blazing virtuosity. New faces in front of the orchestra include, among soloists Lara Secord-Haid, Maria Brea, Jeneba Kanneh-Mason, and Sarah McElravey; among conductors, Jeri-Lynn Johnson and Jean-Marie Zeitouni. Even our dearly beloved principal cello, Desiree Abby, is a new face as a soloist with the orchestra, and the work she is premiering that was written expressly for her is by the ‘new to the MCO’ composer, Ted Runcie.

“We can’t wait to share these fresh musical offerings this spring with MCO audiences, celebrating famous local talent and connecting Winnipeg to an international selection of emerging powerhouses,” Anne adds.

Here’s a rundown of our Spring Series’ concerts, presented at Crescent Arts Centre in Osborne Village:

- 7:30pm, Wednesday, 20 March 2024 / Internationally, soprano Lara Secord-Haid’s performances are praised by the New York Times and Opera Today. Locally she’s known to Winnipeg for her stunning appearances with the Manitoba Opera and Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.
