The Studio

"I will use the space of "The Studio" at La Maison des artistes visuels as an open studio.

I'm from Mexico City, but I live part of the time in Saint-Boniface. I like working with my hands and have been doing sculpture for a long time. When I first came to Winnipeg, I thought I was going to be able to continue working the same as I was doing in Mexico. I learned pretty fast that that way of thinking was not going to work: everything here talked to me in a very different tone.

I decided to start from scratch, working with the materials that nature could offer me, here, in Saint-Boniface.

From my walks by the rivers, I became familiar with the Burdock (Bardane) plant.

To continue the study of some structures of this plant, I will work in the space of "The Studio" at La Maison des artistes visuels for the first two weeks of June 2025."
