The Edge Gallery and Urban Art Centre Update

In the early morning hours of Wednesday, December 13th, the Edge and several apartments at 611 Main Street suffered a devastating fire due to suspected arson. Thankfully, no one was physically injured, however, both the clay center and apartments above were significantly damaged. Currently, the building is not safe for occupancy, and we are not permitted access due to health and safety. We have yet to ascertain the full extent of the damage and are working with the property manager, landlord, and insurance to determine a way forward.

The Edge is a non-profit organization that provides opportunities for emerging artists to overcome barriers that can make art inaccessible. A proud member of the thriving Winnipeg arts scene, we offer low-cost studio memberships, ceramics classes, community engagement, and a gallery space for local artists to showcase their work.

The Edge is more than just a building. It is a safe and inclusive community where ideas, skills, and knowledge are shared freely. The outpouring of care and support we have received in the aftermath of this tragedy is a humble reminder to us about how special of a place the Edge is to so many.

We are committed to rebuilding but do not know how long or costly this setback is going to be. A GoFundMe has been set up to assist with losses not covered by insurance. Words can't express how grateful we are for any and all support received. https://www.gofundme.com/f/a-f...
