Whimsy on Osborne: Street Banners Bring Neighbourhood Spirit to Life

Sweet refreshments will be provided by Black Market Provisions, and after the tour, stick around for the South Osborne Outdoor Concert at Hethrington, featuring high-energy funk band Jive Town!
The event will go ahead rain or shine (except in the event of a thunderstorm).
Cormier’s designs are filled with snippets of everyday life that happen in public spaces. These seemingly fleeting or mundane moments invite us to be present and notice the beauty in the small things around us. Whether it’s a kind gesture between strangers, a joyful moment shared by friends, or someone’s eye-catching outfit, the artwork is inspired by the sense of delight and connection that witnessing or being part of these moments can bring. The banners don’t just brighten the street; they offer a storybook view of Osborne, where small moments of magic unfold every day.
The 22 banners stretch along Osborne Street between Mulvey and Jubilee and will remain on display for at least two years. The project is a collaboration between the South Osborne BIZ and the WinnipegArts Council for the City of Winnipeg’s Public Art Program.
“The South Osborne BIZ is honoured to have Cato’s delightful banner designs enriching and enlivening our streetscape over the next several years. These banners have already produced so much community pride during the short duration of their display!”
– Stephanie Voyce, South Osborne BIZ
