IN CELEBRATION OF 50 YEARS OF BRICK BOOKS

Brick Books poets invite Winnipeggers to experience poetry in unusual spaces and discover the ways in which our city contributes to poetic imagination!

GIRLWOOD POETRY TOUR by Jennifer Still
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 18, 3-4 pm
MEET at Girdwood Park, 45 Girdwood Crescent
Poet Laureate of Winnipeg, Jennifer Still, will lead a poetry walk down the front sidewalk of her East Kildonan childhood home, Girdwood Crescent. She will share the ways in which these pastel rowhouses nestled along the tracks inform her poetics. Participants will write a collaborative sidewalk chalk poem. Tour will start at Girdwood Park. Terrain is concrete sidewalk and paved backlane. Distance is 500 metres.

ST. VITAL PARK DUCK POND POETRY TOUR by Angeline Schellenberg
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 19, 3-4 pm
MEET at Duck Pond Pavilion
Angeline Schellenberg will read bird and water poems at the St. Vital Park Duck Pond, a City of Winnipeg operated park in the community where she lives and writes.

PORTAGE & MAIN POETRY TOUR by Maurice Mierau
MONDAY, OCTOBER 20, 12:30 pm
MEET at the NW corner of Portage & Main
Maurice Mierau will read poems and chat about his research process at each of the four corners of the newly pedestrian-accessible intersection of Portage & Main, a place that had been barricaded to pedestrians with concrete walls since 1979.

Dress for weather conditions. Poets are hardy and tours will happen rain or snow or shine!
