Art in the Neighbourhood

Join the Glenelm Neighbourhood Association to visit a variety of beautiful public artworks in Glenelm/Elmwood. Whether it's in a park, a back lane, a street, or outside a business, art makes our city better! We’ll explore what makes people want to share art with their neighbours, and whether public art can be more than just something nice to look at. Throughout stops along the way, participants will explore questions like: How does art affect the city and the neighbourhood? Is it just adding beauty and interest? And can it play roles beyond the aesthetic? To end the tour and discussion, participants will find out when and where the next mural will go up!

Meeting Place

Walk meeting place is at 243 Henderson Hwy (corner of Johnson and Henderson). Walk leaders will be wearing nametags and greeting people.

The walk ends at Elmwood (Roxy) Park where there is a playground, benches, etc.

Accessibility

The meeting place is a paved and fenced area at the corner of Johnson and Henderson with plenty of seating. It is a busy intersection; please exercise caution when crossing Henderson & Johnson. Where traffic volume is high, we will try our best to find quiet places to speak so that everyone can hear. The walk will be on sidewalks and other paved surfaces. A paved park path on the tour does go over some gentle hills. There will be places to rest at the beginning and end of the walk. The tour will be in English.
