The Winnipeg Arts Council is seeking a reliable, enthusiastic, community-focused, and organized individual to serve as the Public Art Tour Coordinator & Guide (bilingual, preferred) for the 2025 tour season. This role involves leading biking, walking, and bus tours of Winnipeg’s Public Art Collection, providing engaging discussions on the aesthetics, concepts, and processes behind public artworks.

Before the tour season begins, the selected candidate will complete self-directed training on the Public Art Program and artworks, and will develop the tour schedule in consultation with the Public Art Manager.

This is a contract position. While training and preparation times are flexible, all tour dates and times will be set once the schedule is published.

Major Responsibilities

• Coordinating the Public Art Tour Season

• Leading groups on bike and on foot through the city while discussing public art

• Learning about Winnipeg’s Public Art Collection and Program to provide accurate and engaging information

• Speaking clearly and confidently to large groups in high-traffic areas

• Tour planning, marketing, and promotional activities

• Tracking tour attendance, responding to email inquiries, and creating post-tour reports

• Developing knowledge of other landmarks of interest along tour routes

• Liaising with community partners

Requirements

• Punctuality and reliability—must be able to lead all scheduled tours in any weather

• Friendly, energetic, and engaging attitude

• Ability to bike and walk for extended periods (must have own bike and smartphone)

• Experience and confidence in public speaking

• Bilingual in English and French (preferred but not required)

• Knowledge of Winnipeg and an interest in the arts

• Ability to retain and recall detailed information

• Strong navigational skills and the ability to follow a map

• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and in various weather conditions (tours run rain or shine, except in cases of extreme weather)
